Scuba Diving in Honduras at Clearwater Paradise Resort
All-Inclusive Bay Islands Dive Resort
World-class Bay Islands scuba diving from a boutique Caribbean dive resort on Guanaja. Fifty-plus dive sites. Pristine reefs. No crowds. Just you, the water, and some of the best diving in the Caribbean.
Why Guanaja Is One of the Best Places for Scuba Diving in the Caribbean
Guanaja is the least developed of the three Bay Islands, sitting about 45 miles off the mainland coast of Honduras. It's part of the Meso-American Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world, and the entire island and its surrounding reefs have been designated as a Protected Marine Reserve.
For divers, Guanaja offers something rare: a full range of dive experiences on a single island.
Because it's part of the underwater Bonacca Ridge, you'll find lava formations, tunnels, and dramatic wall dives alongside shallow reef systems packed with color and marine life. There are more than 50 named dive sites around the island, countless unnamed ones, and several wrecks including the popular Jado Trader.
The water stays warm year-round (76 to 85 degrees), visibility regularly exceeds 80 feet, and because Guanaja is small, we can always dive the lee side if conditions kick up on the other.
There are few places left in the Caribbean that offer spectacular diving without crowds. When we dive, we almost always have the site to ourselves.

Exploring the Hidden Gem of the Caribbean - Guanaja, Honduras

A Typical Day on the Water
Our standard dive schedule starts with a 7:30 breakfast, with the boat leaving no later than 8:30 AM.
Two morning dives with fruit, snacks, and juice in between. Back to the resort for lunch. Afternoon dive starts between 2 - 2:30 PM. On nights we run a night dive, that goes in place of the afternoon slot.
Our schedule flexes with the weather, the group, and the sites you want to hit.

Full Dive Shop, Two Boats, and Gear for Every Kind of Diver
Our dive shop sits down by the water and stocks everything you need. Our tanks include aluminum 80s, 63s, and 100s, and we mix Nitrox on site. If you have a special request for a different type of tank, just contact us. With advance notice, we’ll see what we can arrange.
For getting to the sites, we have two boats, so we can match the boat to your group. Our smaller panga, with a sunroof and a ladder, is perfect for intimate outings. It carries tanks for six divers on a two-dive trip, plus a dive master, or up to eight snorkelers or divers on a one-dive trip.
Our larger panga is made for bigger groups. It carries up to twelve divers plus a dive master on a two-dive trip, and 18 to 20 guests when there’s less gear and luggage on board.
For snorkelers who want to explore on their own time, we also have three Cobra Fish n’ Dive kayaks, three Cobra Play kayaks, and two stand-up paddleboards, all free to use.

Marine Life on the Meso-American Reef
Our dive masters have sharp eyes and know exactly where to look. Expect to see angelfish, barracuda, butterfly fish, crabs, lobster, grouper, jackfish, moray eels, octopus, parrotfish, nurse sharks, and seahorses on any given dive.
Sea turtles, dolphins, stingrays, squid, and a wide variety of tropical fish are also regulars, and eagle rays and manta rays make occasional appearances.
Visibility averages 80 feet or more. Water temperatures range from 76 to 84 degrees depending on the season. Seas are typically calm and current-free.

How Does Guanaja Diving Compare to Roatán?

A Quieter Alternative to Roatán Dive Resorts
Roatán is beautiful, and its dive resorts are well known. But if you've been to Roatán and want something quieter, less developed, and less crowded on the water, Guanaja is where to go next. We're just 10 miles off Roatán's east tip, but the vibe couldn't be more different. Fewer boats, fewer divers, and reefs that feel like they're yours alone.
Clearwater Paradise Resort welcomes divers at every level. Whether you're a beginner looking to log your first Caribbean dives, a seasoned diver chasing pristine reefs, or a group planning a dive trip with 20 friends, we can build the experience around you. Snorkelers are just as welcome, and the reef is close enough to shore that you don't even need a boat to explore it.
