Activities at Clearwater Paradise Resort

JUNGLE HIKES, FISHING, & WILDLIFE
More to Explore Than Just the Reef
Guanaja is a playground on land and sea, with reefs, mountains, waterfalls, and mangroves all within reach of the resort. Spend the morning on the water, the afternoon on a trail, and the evening in the game room swapping stories. Our staff are happy to help you build an itinerary that fits the way you like to travel.
EXPLORE THE "UNTOUCHED GEM" OF THE CARIBBEAN
Scuba Diving & Snorkeling
Diving here feels like the Caribbean did 20 to 30 years ago, with untouched reefs, very few other boats, and more than 50 dive sites to choose from. Snorkelers get the same clear water and healthy reefs.
Michael's Rock, about an 8-minute boat ride from the resort, is one of the most beautiful beach and snorkeling spots anywhere, with calm water, a soft sandy beach, and a reef in either direction, which makes it ideal for beginners. Many dive sites also double as excellent snorkeling spots, so mixed groups of divers and snorkelers can share the same boat.

WATERFALL HIKES, CAVES, & RUINS
Hiking
Guanaja is mountainous, and it’s one of the few small Caribbean islands with natural springs, which means waterfalls.
We offer two waterfall hikes, depending on the weather. The smaller falls are a short walk from the water, though the final stretch is steep - leave the flip flops behind. The larger falls are farther away and a bigger trek of a few hours. We take you in the afternoon, so you’re back in time for dinner.
For either hike, we dock at the local Green Flash Bar, known to everyone on the island as Bo’s place. After your hike we stop in for a drink and a visit with Bo and his family. It’s a small island tradition, and a nice way to meet some of the community before heading back to the resort.
There are also hikes to caves and Mayan ruins with hieroglyphics, for guests who want to explore even more of Guanaja.

ISLAND TOURS & LOCAL CULTURE
Sightseeing
Get to know the real Guanaja. We're happy to help you organize a tuk-tuk ride through Mangrove Bight and along the island’s 2-mile road, the only one on Guanaja, all the way to Savannah Bight. Stop for lunch on the other side of the island before heading back.
For a glimpse of the past, take a short boat trip to Northeast Bight, where people still live much as islanders did a century ago.
Or visit Low Cay, a tiny, car-free island that is home to most of Guanaja’s population. It’s laced with walkways and narrow canals, like a small, scrunched-up Venice, and it comes alive on Thursday market day. Fishing is still the island’s main industry, so Low Cay is a great place to see everyday island life up close.
When you’re ready to slow down, pack a cooler and spend the afternoon at Michael’s Rock, swimming, snorkeling, or floating in crystal-clear water with your favorite drink in hand.
